Spring Tourette 2005 (page 2)
Providence

That's right, the epicenter of "noise rock." A strange and wondrous place, complete with a strange and wondrous host, Domenick from the band Denimvenom. He put the whole thing together at AS220, an amazing arts venue right downtown. Booking manager Jeffrey, who passed along our CD to Domenick, also plays in the combo Black Forest Black Sea.

We got there Friday afternoon and loaded our gear into the space, then met up with Domenick, who showed us around Providence. He pretends he's shy, but he's a ladykiller (that act gets 'em every time).

He took us to the science lab at Rhode Island School of Design.

Jeanne learned a few things about swans.

Soon it was time to go back and get the show started. It was quite the event -- the place was packed, and the music was great!

Flaws

We weren't sure what the local kids would think of us. We saw them sort of scratching their heads and asking each other, "What is this--how you say--'pop' music?" But they soon warmed up to us. It was like being in a circus freak show. And we're used to that!

We did some experimental numbers to impress them, such as "I Am The Great Pumpkin" ...
... and "Arrr, The Olde Ship She Sways Mightily."

Many thanks to Joe Brown for taking these photos. He got kinda wacky with the Photoshop filters.

And with a classic Josh giggle, we finished our set.
Now we can watch Denimvenom!

They're amazing. And they're playing with us in New York in early August, hooray!
After the bands, we got to hang out and meet all the great people, like Marcella, a flamenco dancer and graphic designer who has now moved to NYC! She poses here with Jeffrey, at left. And Shauna, who knitted some cute and unusual mittens.
Ah, but of course we know who the real troublemakers are: Aaron, Joe Brown and Josh!

We crashed at the party-pad Domenick shares with Josie, a talented artist and all-around charming lady. Next morning, we went to breakfast with all our new friends, and then had to say goodbye. Many boxes of tissue were spent.

How can New Haven possibly top this??? We shall see...
